Glenn Cunningham
Glenn was an American runner and an athlete. He was known as the greatest American miler of all time. Glenn was born on August 9, 1909 in Atlanta, Kansas, but he grew up in Elkhart, Kansas. When Glenn was in the age of 8 he suffered a explosion caused when someone put gasoline instead of kerosene in the can at his schoolhouse by accident. His legs were very badly burned by the cause of the accident. His brother Floyd was only thirteen when he died in the explosion at their school. The doctors told Glenn and his parents that amputating his legs would be a recommendation, but neither did he or his parents want too because they saw him distressed. He died at the age of 78.
